NEW TO STREAMING:
Earth, Wind and Fire (To Be Celestial vs. That’s the Weight of the World) (*** ½) is a very illuminating documentary on the quintessential soul group, whose music provided a constant soundtrack during the 1970s and early 1980s. Directed by Questlove, the film chronicles the complicated relationship the band had with its late leader, Maurice White, and also offers insights from fans such as former president Barack Obama. Lots of great archival footage and interviews complement the proceedings, making the film an enticing viewing experience for fans of the band and non-fans alike.
NEW TO DISC:
Paramount:
The latest in the Scream franchise, Scream 7 (2026), gets both a 4K and Blu Ray release this week from the label.
Shout Factory:
The third film in George A. Romero’s Dead series, Day of the Dead (1985), makes its way to 4K with a brand-new scan of the source material and lots of new bonus materials.
The classic sci-fi entry and one of the first in the cycle of films featuring giant insects, Them! (1954), gets a 4K UHD upgrade this week from the label as well. New bonus materials have been included along with archival features.
Cloud Atlas (2012), previously issued last year in 4K, gets a reissue in steelbook packaging.
Arrow:
The Japanese horror entry, Audition (1999), gets its 4K due this week from the label in a handsome new package, complete with such bonus materials as new and archival commentaries and interviews.
Warner Brothers:
The Arnold Schwarzenegger starring actioner, Eraser (1996), has made the 4K leap as well with a few new bonus features.
Disney:
The recent sequel, Ready or Not 2: Here I Come (2026) gets a Blu Ray release this week with a few new featurettes.
Also, Hamilton (2000) gets a pricey ($80) 4K steelbook disc release that also includes a sing along edition.
Lionsgate:
The Arrival (1996) The sci-fi invasion film starring Charlie Sheen gets the 4K treatment this week as well as part of the Lionsgate Limited series of titles.
Kino:
The romance/adventure/comedy, A Man Could Get Killed (1966), starring James Garner, gets its first ever Blu Ray disc release. A new commentary is included.
The Lost Man (1969) A gang of black militants plots to rob a factory to finance their “revolutionary struggle” in this actioner making its Blu Ray debut with a new 4K restoration.
Robby Benson and singer B.J. Thomas star in the western revenge tale, Jory (1973), which also gets a Blu Ray release this week. An interview with star Robby Benson is included.
Universal:
The box office winner from earlier this year, The Super Mario Galaxy Movie (2026), gets a 4K and Blu Ray release this week with a few new featurettes.
The film adaptation of the game, Warcraft (2016), gets a 10th Anniversary Steelbook release this week in 4K format.
Also, To Kill a Mockingbird (1962) gets a 4K reissue with new packaging but that’s about it.
Criterion:
High Art (1998) Ally Sheedy and Radha Mitchell star in this tale of romance set against the backdrop of the NY art world now getting its 4K due. Bonus materials include new interviews and a bonus short film.
