Let it Be (***) The long unavailable 1970 Oscar Winner, which documents the creation of The Beatles last commercially released album and the impending breakup of the band, finally gets a re-release in a newly remastered version. The film itself is a hit and miss affair and can be a bit tedious at times but the musicianship of the Fab Four makes the experience rewarding when all is said and done. (Available exclusively on Disney +)

Narc (2002) Joe Carnahan’s crime thriller, starring Jason Patric as a disgraced detective attempting to get to the bottom of a police officer’s murder and tangling with the slain officer’s former partner (Ray Liotta), makes its 4K UHD debut this week. Extras include featurettes, interviews and a commentary.

Crimson Peak (2015) An aspiring writer, reeling from the death of her mother, attempts to uncover the dark secret of the mansion in which she resides with her husband, in Guillermo Del Toro’s tale of gothic horror also making its 4K UHD debut this week. Extras include an 80 page book, featurettes, interviews and a commentary.

Club Zero (2023) A newly hired instructor at a boarding school uncovers sinister goings on at the establishment in this acclaimed thriller debuting on Blu Ray. Extras include interviews.

Coup De Chance (2024) Woody Allen’s 50th film as writer-director, the tale of what happens when one half of a married couple bumps into an old classmate, comes to Blu Ray and DVD.

Blue Underground:

Deathdream (1972) John Marley and Lynn Carlin are a couple grieving their son’s death in Vietnam when they’re startled to find him knocking at their door one day. What happens after forms the plot of this intriguing chiller, making its 4K UHD debut in a new edition. Archival extras from the previous Blu Ray have been carried over as well.

Kino:

The Lawyer (1970) Barry Newman stars as Tony Petrocelli, an Italian American lawyer tasked with defending a doctor accused of murdering his wife, in Sidney J. Furie’s courtroom drama, making its stateside Blu Ray debut. Extras include a new commentary and cast interviews.

Big Man on Campus (1989) A neanderthal living in the bell tower at UCLA attempts to assimilate into the lives and culture of those in his surroundings in this comedy written by and starring Allan Katz. Extras include an alternate ending and a new commentary and interview.

Daisy Miller (1974) Peter Bogdanovich’s adaptation of the Henry James novel about a young and very liberated American girl’s adventures living abroad with her mother and brother makes its Blu Ray debut this week. New interviews and commentary are included with archival extras.
