Hickory – Construction of the City of Hickory’s new dog park at Hickory Optimist Park is well underway. To safely complete the next phase of work, which includes expanding parking to support both existing and upcoming amenities, the park will be temporarily closed starting Monday, April 27. This phase is expected to be completed by May 30, when the park will reopen to the public.
The new dog park will offer a fun, accessible space for residents and their dogs, further enhancing Hickory Optimist Park as a popular community destination.
Hickory Optimist Park currently includes a variety of amenities for visitors of all ages:
Picnic shelter with tables and grills
Community room with restrooms and catering kitchen
Outdoor basketball court
Four outdoor pickleball courts
Playground
Outdoor fitness equipment zone
Paved walking trail
