Hickory – The Western Piedmont Woodcrafters Club’s Saturday, May 31st meeting will feature a presentation by Chris Smith, discussing many aspects of woodworking glues, including the various types, their characteristics, their uses, the best glues for various tasks, and gluing techniques. The meeting is at 9:30 A.M., at Klingspor’s Woodworking Shop, 856 21st St. Drive SE, Hickory. Meetings are open to the public.
Chris is well qualified to discuss many aspects of woodworking. After developing a passion for woodworking from his grandfather and taking many related courses in school, he’s been woodworking since the late ‘80s. Chris has worked in the woodworking-related industry since 2001. He has built and installed cabinetry and furniture for cabinet shops, and has owned a custom cabinet and furniture business.
Chris is active on social media and has a following on YouTube where he creates wood-working-related content under the name Christcross Crafts, offering product reviews, wood-working tips, jigs, CNC, and other woodworking–based videos to help others, from hobbyists to professionals.
Members and visitors should also enjoy the show-and-tell portion of the program in which members and guests show and discuss their woodworking projects. All will have an opportunity to offer comments and ask questions about items shown, and other topics.
The club consists of about 40 Hickory-area woodworkers of all skill levels, from hobbyist to professionals.
The club usually meets on the fourth Saturday of each month at the Klingspor’s Woodworking Shop in Hickory. The exceptions are our annual offsite picnic, the October Klingspor’s Woodworking Extravaganza, and a combined November/December meeting.
