Valdese, NC – On Friday, March 3, 2023, an exhibition of the works of Renee’ Barnette and Greg Huffman at Rock School Arts Foundation opens. The public is invited to a reception on Sunday, March 5, from 2-4pm. 
RSAF Galleries are located in the Old Rock School in Valdese, NC. The works will remain in Gallery I and II through Friday, April 7, 2023. Hours of operation are Monday through Friday 8:30 – 5. Works may also be viewed online at the Foundation’s website: rockschoolartgalleries.com.
Reneé Barnette- Artist Bio
Reneé Barnette is a contemporary mixed media artist, author, poet and vocalist from Hildebran, North Carolina. She graduated with a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from the University of North Carolina in Wilmington with an emphasis in painting, printmaking and pottery. She has continued to expand her curiosity as an artist working with paint, clay, leather, beads or anything that catches her creative eye.
It wasn’t until Reneé took an unexpected journey to India that her passion for her art was re-ignited. The contrast of life, suffering and love all mingled together in a tapestry of newfound hope. The “ancient” intertwined and connected to the “now,” triggered a deep calling that she continues to pursue with each new creation. Layers of vibrant color and texture are prevalent throughout her body of work. Each piece is an extension of her fun-loving personality and free spirit.
Reneé works as a Licensed Massage and Bodywork Therapist and as a Certified Yoga Instructor in Hickory North Carolina where she shares life with her husband Robert and Dachshund Macy.
Greg Huffman – Artist Bio
Greg Huffman was raised in Catawba County among pottery enthusiasts, folk artists, and writers. An attorney in practice for 26 years, he is a completely amateur painter. He also is a photography hobbyist and recovering musician.
When traveling with his wife, they never fail to find art museums and hidden “gems” around cities. Everything from samurai armor to graffiti and street art. Nature, especially stark, harsh environments, like the desert southwest, Antarctica, and high-altitude mountains are a favorite subject matter.
